Important Information for Parents:
Transportation
If there is any change in transportation, please send a note. This is very important! Without notification from you, I cannot allow your child to make a change in his/her regular transportation. No changes should be made by calling the school unless it is an emergency.
Absences
Daily attendance is an important factor in a student’s academic success. Please do your best to have your student in class as many days as possible. If your child is absent, I must have a written excuse within three days or it will be coded as unexcused.
Daily Folder
The daily folder will go home the first day of school. It contains many important forms. Please complete the forms and return them as soon as possible. Each day your child will bring this folder home. It will contain work completed that day. Go over the papers with your child and keep them at home. Return the folder to school each day.
These folders are a good source of daily parent/teacher communication. Feel free to place a note in the Ziplock baggie in your child’s folder if you need to contact me for any reason.
Conduct Charts
Your child’s folder will include a conduct chart that describes his/her behavior for the day. Please examine your child’s chart each day so that you are aware of his/her behavior at school. Please discuss any behaviors that need improvement with your child. The behavior chart and work samples are very important as they will show your child’s strengths and weaknesses in the classroom. This performance will be reflected in your child’s report card.
Homework
Your child will have a small amount of homework throughout the school year. He/She will need your help in completing these homework assignments. Please let me know if you have any questions about the assignments.
Report Cards:
Report cards will be sent home at the end of each nine weeks. Your child’s report card will show how well he/she has mastered the skills taught during that nine weeks. It will also include a conduct grade for your child. If you have any concerns regarding your child’s academic performance or behavior I encourage you to discuss them with me at any time.
